This cropped version of my SWF # 3 is intended for Charles -my photography collegue, adviser, mentor, friend back in college. He found my orignal SWF to be distracting with that sand in the foreground hence I posted a cropped one.

This is Kient playing with his dog Frenzy. I was 25 paces away from them while capturing this in their natural moment.
I think I'm gonna keep this glass (70-200mm) which I sometimes considering of disposing it in exchange for a wider one (17-50mm)
Candid photographs are fun to try too. If you visit my flickr you will see different styles of photography combined together without specific type or form.
I wish I could master two or three types of photography but this limited equipment confused me which form would be the best destiny and to break this mixed mind up I would say I am going to shoot anythinggg. =)

For days I was seeking for solution to this problem about capturing fast moving subjects. The photos above were taken with my DSLR in hi-speed shooting mode- and that is 6 pictures are taken in a single click.
Settings: 1/1024, f6.4, ISO400, 63mm
I was shooting a motorcycle race where the subject is speeding perpendicular to my spot.
The first 3 frames were good but notice the motorcycle gets blurred starting at the 4th frame, the question is: considering my shooting spot and direction of moving subject, it is possible to capture the six pictures perfectly focused using Auto Focus mode in a single burst?
Let me share you a brilliant advice given to me by Chris Roberts of "The DSLR-Guide" where I bought some of my DSLR learning stuffs.

What you're describing is one of the most difficult types of focusing scenarios for any digital SLR camera. Modern autofocus systems are quite good at tracking subjects moving perpendicular to the camera, but when the subject is speeding right at you, it's a lot harder for the AF to keep up.
There are two ways to capture clear photos in this instance and you cancertainly try both and see what works best for you.The first thing to do is to change the setting on your 40D so that ONLY the center autofocus point is being used. When you manually select the AF point, the camera doesn't have to be "smart" about which point to use which can lead to better AF performance and might help the AF in servo mode track a moving subject more accurately.
A second thing to do is to pre-focus the camera on a specific spot before your subject comes into view, then you fire off a burst of shots when your subject comes within focus range.
This strategy is used by a lot of pros who take pictures of car and motorcycle races. The only drawbacks to this technique are A) it takes LOTS of practice to get right and B) you're only getting about 3 usable frames per burst (since your subject will move beyond the spot where you've set the focus).

First Few Shots, Canon EOS 40D
Here's my break-in shots using my new Canon EOS 40D with Canon EF 70-200mm F4 L USM lens. Was wandering around the house this morning to find some interesting subjects but couldn't find any except these.
There are some points that aren't focused, I'm aware of that, I hope to hone my skill on turning my focusing ring and get the sharpest shot. I like the accuracy of manual focus over the auto. My pictures are cropped esp. the birds to get a bigger view.

Imagphotography "Unseen World"

I bought myself the "Unseen World" issue of Imagphotography magazine. Going over through the pages I only found seven (whole page) adds- these adds are placed in the first few pages while the rest are tucked at the last pages, no adds in between each article, no centerfold.
Pretty cool, well arranged, systematic magazine, unlike other magazines that the adds are fixed anywhere the editor wants and bother the readers' attention.
The latest issue is packed with tutorial and good stuffs- made right for me who's trying hard to get good photographs.
My salute to the featured photographers of this issue Tilak Hettige and Edwin Tuyay their work of art was amazing. (click on their names to view their profiles and galleries)

I started blogging last 2006 with www(dot)i(dot)ph and blogspot with only two entries in each blog. Then I have a multiply.com account too for more than three years now- it is where I saved some of my photographs. Last week I jumped to wordpress with only one entry, I feel very lazy, posting, publishing, previewing and so on.
Then now blogspot, back again! I love blogspot for one reason- I can blog my photos directly from Picasa. I found the NEW blogspot to be flexible, cool interface, I can control the way I want it better than the aforementioned blogging sites. I hope to keep my appetite updating this bloggy.
Now you know my own translation of blog hopping!
Practicing my pen tool!
Until now I am still learning to use Photoshop's pen tool, I can't produce a sexy, well curved shapes. I was badly looking for a logo of Petron Gasul at Google images so that I can download it right away and use it as the header of my sister in-law's Gasul business documents. No luck, nothing is available in Google. Now here's my own version of Petron Gasul logo. The shape looks nice but there are slight imperfections when you look close at the edges.
